Great advice and beautiful arrangements. Used them plenty of times now as they never disappoint.

Fairly new to Parsons Street in Banbury but a great addition to the street. The window displays are worth a trip past to see & they change often. Lovely couple who run it.

Castle Flowers (now SamtheFlowerman)

Bridge St, Banbury OX16 5PH, UK – 01295 277727

Exceptional at every level. Very helpful in taking a large bespoke order over the phone, ensuring it met my needs, pick up at my convenience etc This is not my nearest florist by a long stretch however it is so great i will always get flowers from there in future given the excellent service. The flowers were beautiful, fresh and looked amazing (they were gifts) and were excellent value for money as well. Someone even offered and helped me back to the car with them. Superb service - cannot recommend highly enough - buy your flowers from there!

Wonderful utterly wonderful. The store atmosphere is something that I found so peaceful and so full of serenity that I found myself battling myself on whether or not to leave. The prices of the flowers themselves I found to be very reasonable and definitely to a high quality. I would very rarely see a flower on the front room displays that was withered or past its best. The staff were lovely. While I worked there I was lucky enough to work with 5 of the 8 staff members that ran the store and each was just as friendly as the last. My job wasn't even a very important job and yet still I was made to feel like a member of the castle flowers family. The manager was a brilliant man as well. As apposed to other employers I have had the day I got the sack he was very very nice about it. It wasn't a cold heartless conversation and if I hadn't have moved away I would have gone back to work there after the christmas period. Thank you very much Sam and Co. That was my first real job and it gave me the best possible start in the world of work, Andrew Odley

Tips - Caring for your flowers once they are delivered

Placing your flowers in vase half to two thirds full with lukewarm water, will help closed buds to start opening.

  • Be careful when un-wrapping a hand-tied bouquet as it is delivered in a water bubble to keep the flowers fresh.
  • Arranging your flowers in cold water should be avoided as this can reduce the their life in the vase.
  • Avoid puting flowers in metal or aluminium containers - glass is ideal. Keep your flowers in a cool location, away from draughts, direct heat or sunlight. Arrange once unwrapped
  • Your flowers may take up to 24 hours after being placed in water to reach their full potential.
  • Strip off all excess foliage and leaves below the water level to reduce any harmful bacteria within the water.
  • Bacteria can block the stem and stop the flowers taking up the water.unwrap. Flowers like their stems trimmed. So, trim them, at an angle with a knife (rather than scissors) by an inch or so. When trimming stems, always cut at an angle of roughly 45degrees; this increases the surface area allowing your flowers to absorb more water.
  • If a Rose starts to droop at the head, re-cut the stem, wrap the head in paper to support it upright and plunge 5cms of the stem into boiling water for about 30seconds. Cut the stem again and place in deep cold water for two hours.trim

Most orders are accompanied by a sachet of cut flower food which will encourage buds to open and help to prolong the life and beauty of your flowers. Top up regularly with water and flower food, removing any fading flowers. Ensure the floristry foam used in arrangements is moist and topped up daily; this helps to prolong the life and vibrancy of your arrangements.
